New Mexico COVID-19 Sept. 4-7 Update: 2,510 New Cases, Totaling 237,889 With 10 New Deaths And 205,886 Recovered

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced 2,510 additional COVID-19 cases between Sept. 4 and Sept. 7 in New Mexico.

Los Alamos County reports 7 new cases during the last four days bringing the total to 630 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 10 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:

  • 709 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 168 new cases in Chaves

Sunday afternoon, Sept. 19, the Los Alamos Phi Beta Kappa Association will hold a picnic starting at 1:30 p.m. at Urban Park.

Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest undergraduate honor society in the United States, inducting new members annually into its chapters at colleges and universities across the country. PBK has about 260 members in Los Alamos County (1.5% of the county’s population).

Scenes From LANL Workers Protesting Vaccine Mandate

The New Mexico Freedoms Alliance organized a protest today in response to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) mandating the COVID-19 vaccine for all employees. A couple of hundred LANL workers gathered today in a Freedom Assembly at Ashley Pond Park. The ‘Call Out’ was a demonstration of how many LANL workers could potentially leave the organization if the rule-makers do not rescind the vaccine mandate, and thereby force many workers off the job permanently. CATHERINE SUE PARTRIDGE Aug. 1, 2021

Sue Partridge, 72, passed away August 1, 2021 at her home in Seattle in the presence of those she loved after a long battle with breast cancer. 

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in New Mexico, Sue and her two brothers were brought up by their parents Ray and Cate Partridge to appreciate nature and the outdoors, spending summers at the family farms in Utah and Idaho.

STATEWIDE – During the Labor Day weekend, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) participated in the Combined Accident Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E.) operation across all roadways within the state.

BRYAN LALLY Aug. 4, 2021

Bryan Lally, 63, passed away on August 4, 2021, after a short illness.

After receiving his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University, Bryan moved to Los Alamos and started his career at LANL in 1992 with the Process Modeling and Control/Process Engineering group.

He had a long career at the lab, spanning several organizations and touching on several important LANL efforts. Bryan was a founding member of CCS-7, which was created to take on the challenge of preparing for the high performance computing platforms used today.
