Letter To The Editor: The Problem Is The Perception…
By RICK NEBEL
Los Alamos
This is a response to my old friend Pete Sheehey’s recent article. While I don’t have an issue with anything that Pete says, I think that the message it conveys has some problems.
First of all, it is highly unlikely that closing “non-essential” businesses has prevented a single death or even a single infection in Los Alamos county. Why? Because the overwhelming number of workers in Los Alamos have been deemed “essential”.
My understanding is that 95 percent of the GRT collected by the county comes from LANL. That would indicate that the number of employees at LANL outnumber Read More

Ideas Are The Victims Of Political Campaigns
Entrepreneurs, scientists, and technologists treasure ideas and innovation as the lifeblood of prosperity. The best of music creators, designers, and football coaches poke everywhere to find a ray of new light to combine with the tried and true. Creative companies know that ideas are squelched or sparked by factors as humdrum as the work environment, so they work to create new and better work forums.
Meanwhile the political system does its best to kill all ideas. We Read More

White: Why I’m A County Council Candidate
By GREG WHITE
Democratic Candidate
Los Alamos County Council
My name is Greg White. I am running for County Council because I really love this community and I am really frustrated with the Council and top management of the County and the pervasive “Can’t Do” attitude.
The Council is suppose to Lead And Oversee. But there is no leadership from the Council, let alone oversight. They constantly fail to adequately question County staff. And a lot of the questions they do ask, they should have known the answer to before the meeting.
I’ve repeatedly emailed the Council and staff with measures they can Read More
