Important absentee by-mail deadline approaching! County Clerk Naomi Maestas would like to remind voters that ballots must physically be received by the Clerk’s Office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, June 2.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 108 additional positive tests for COVID-19.

Los Alamos County remains at 6 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.

Today’s update includes 6 additional deaths reported in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

  • 51 new cases in Bernalillo County

New Mexico ‘Mask Madness’ Competition Voting Opens

SANTA FE – The Office of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced this morning that the first round of voting has opened for New Mexico Mask Madness, a statewide competition intended to highlight the creativity and artistic ability of New Mexicans amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Mexicans can cast a vote for their favorite masks once a day online here.

Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak in New Mexico, the Four Corners region of New Mexico faced serious economic challenges. The declining price of natural gas, which had been the basis of the area’s economy for decades was the most significant issue.

The price which exceeded $15 per million cubic feet (MCF) back in 2008 embarked on a rapid decline with the advent of the “fracking” revolution. The price is now below $2 per MCF and shows no sign of rising in the foreseeable future. That’s a decline of over 80 percent.
