Run for Her Life a Big Success Despite Fierce Winds

Local runners braved cold temperatures today to participate in the second annual Run for Her Life, a 5K and 10K race to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer.

The race was presented by the Los Alamos Chapter of Hadassah and Atomic City Roadrunners.

All donations and race proceeds will be donated to Hadassah for breast cancer research, education and treatment.

Attendees Snacked on Soup While Helping Out Self Help Inc. at Saturday Event

Empty bowls got filled up at the 18th annual Empty Bowl event, held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

A lively crowd chose from handmade bowls and enjoyed a choice of delicious soups for a $10 donation. 

About 700 beautiful bowls were available for purchase.

All of the money raised during the Empty Bowl event goes directly to support the work of Self Help, Inc.

Several candidates at today’s GOP Pre-Primary Convention at the Crowne Plaza in Albuquerque were assured top spots on the ballot for the June Primary election.

Longtime local and state Republican Party leader JoAnn Johnson was a delegate at today’s convention.
