Bible Opinion Discussion At La Vista Church Jan. 6

LVC News:

The Bible is arguably the most influential book in history. Regardless of whether a person believes in the Bible’s God Yahweh or not, one cannot ignore the impact of the Bible upon history and upon society today.

That being the case, perhaps the problem we have is not whether we choose to follow it or not, but that the vast majority of people, Christians included, have an opinion about what the Bible says and yet have not truly read it for themselves in its entirety.

And so beginning Jan. 6, La Vista Church invites you to come and give authority to your opinion.

Los Alamos

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1 NIV)

In the beginning God created (Genesis 1:1). From the account of the Bible, we can surmise that God created because God is love. But to understand this, we have to do some unpacking.

Imagine, even before Genesis 1:1, what God was like. We know that He was holy and glorious (Isaiah 6:3). And when Isaiah had his vision in the throne room he said, “‘Woe to me!’ I cried. ‘I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, Read More

By KAHLIL SPENCER
Los Alamos

Having neither the expertise nor the interest in engaging either Roy Moore or Rev. Glenn Jones in a discussion of Catholicism vs. Gay Love, I will offer this. The story of the Blind Men and the Elephant.

John Godfrey Saxe’s (1816-1887) version of the famous Indian legend,

It was six men of Indostan
To learning much inclined,
Who went to see the Elephant
(Though all of them were blind),
That each by observation
Might satisfy his mind.

The First approach’d the Elephant,
And happening to fall
Against his broad and sturdy side,
At once began to bawl:

Letter To The Editor: Response To Mr. Moore

By Rev. Glenn Jones
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church

Ray Moore (“Gay Love”, 12/31/15) is correct in stating that the true Christian is to hate no one, but exhibits a fundamental misunderstanding of the Christian interpretation of the Bible: the letters of Paul and the other authors of the New Testament are not in opposition to Jesus’ teachings, but rather are complementary to them.

Another fundamental misunderstanding that Moore (and many others) seems to hold is that all (or a great many) Christians “hate” homosexuals; that is absolutely incorrect. Roman
