NM 502 Pavement Preservation Work To Begin Nov. 15

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will begin paving operations on N.M. 502 from mile maker 5.00 to mile marker 6.40 approximately two miles east of Los Alamos. 

Starting 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, N.M. 502 will have intermittent lane closures on the eastbound and westbound lanes. Motorists can expect minor delays during this time. The paving operation work is scheduled to be completed Nov. 14; weather permitting.

SFNF Honors Volunteers Who Make a Difference; Special Recognition For Craig Martin Of Los Alamos

SANTA FE – Volunteers who collectively donated more than 12,000 hours of time this year to help improve more than 290 miles of trail on the Espanola and Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger Districts of the Santa Fe National Forest were honored this month at the forest’s Volunteer Fiesta. 

More than 40 volunteers attended the Fiesta to celebrate the dedication and accomplishments of all who donate time and energy to benefit the SFNF.

The Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers swimming and diving teams competed at the 35th Barney Relays Saturday, Nov. 12 at Albuquerque Academy.
 
Both the girls and the boys finished second among the eight teams in the competition.

Among the many things that make Los Alamos unique is its proximity to open space and the wildlife that lives here.

As citizens of this urban interface, we have a responsibility to act as good stewards to protect the natural resources and wildlife

This year, there have been numerous reports of bears throughout town, mainly taking advantage of easy food sources provided by humans. For the most part, these incidents resulted in nothing more than the cleaning up after the occasional overturned trash carts.
