New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 133 additional positive tests for COVID-19.

Los Alamos County remains at 6 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.

Today’s update includes 7 additional deaths reported in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

The New Mexico Department of Health reported today the most recent cases:

  • 30 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 1 new case in Chaves County
  • 3 new cases in Cibola County
  • 1 new case in Curry County
  • 4 new cases in Doña Ana County

State Applauds Reopening Of Las Cruces Census Office

STATE News:

LAS CRUCES — The U.S. Census Bureau has reopened its field office in Las Cruces, paving the way for 56,500 southern New Mexico households to receive hand-delivered materials needed to participate in the census, I Count NM announced today.

The field offices have been deemed essential businesses and, as such, the Las Cruces office is following the state’s COVID-19 Safe Practices for essential businesses. With the reopening, households in 16 New Mexico counties can now expect to receive the packets that include census forms and the unique ID needed to be counted online.

NMEDD: Job Training Funds Approved For 165 New Jobs

NMEDD News:

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Economic Development Department Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) board has approved funding for 20 New Mexico companies to train 104 new employees and 24 interns, for a total of $2.5 million in May.

JTIP awarded $1.4 million to nine companies in March for an additional 61 trainees and 1 intern, Cabinet Secretary Alicia J. Keyes said Tuesday.

The average hourly wage for the May jobs is $31.01 with positions ranging from $17 an hour to $61 an hour.

Young Leader Speaking Tour 2020 Goes Virtual

Creativity for Peace is a Santa Fe-based nonprofit organization that trains young Palestinian and Israeli women to partner as leaders by breaking down barriers of anger and prejudice, facilitating friendships, and inspiring action to promote peace.

Each year a group of 16 young women come together near Santa Fe for a three-week peace camp.
