The NSA’s broad domestic surveillance authority, granted to the agency when the Patriot Act was first reauthorized in 2006, expired at midnight after the Senate failed to extend Section 215 of the Patriot Act, which governs surveillance, or approve the House’s USA Freedom Act, which modified Section 215.

A surveillance camera captured a cougar roaming the grounds of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Monday evening at 3700 Canyon Road. IHM wants community members to be aware of the sighting because people sometimes walk through the grounds or walk their dogs in the church parking lot after dark and before dawn.
