President Melanie Colgan began the meeting by recognizing and thanking the Los Alamos County Council who voted the night before to provide funding in the amount of $7.5 million to expand recreation and other spaces available to the community in Chamisa and Piñon Elementary Schools. There are 150 students in preschool through 6th grade attending the three-week program at Barranca Mesa Elementary, which wrapped up July 1.
