NMPED News:

SANTA FE — The Public Education Department (PED) is offering New Mexico families and caregivers an opportunity to learn strategies to help their children improve literacy skills at home.

The Family Literacy Academy will be offered virtually in three 1.5 hour sessions Sept. 13, Oct. 11 and Nov. 8 in English. The Family Literacy Academy also will be offered virtually in Spanish Sept. 15, Oct. 13 and Nov. 10.

Registration is now open:

The Public Education Department partnered with TNTP, formerly known as The New Teacher Project, to develop classes that give participants information, tools and strategies to help students in grades K-12 become better readers.

By participating in each of these sessions, participants will be able to provide support and engage in specific strategies that not only strengthen the connection between literacy in the home and the community, but also builds and supports a love of reading and literacy with their child.
