New Mexico Unemployment Insurance Operations Center Closed Monday In Observance Of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

NMDWS News:

ALBUQUERQUE — All New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions’ (NMDWS) offices, including the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Operations Center, will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The department urges claimants to plan accordingly.

The Unemployment Insurance Tax & Claims Online System (www.jobs.state.nm.us) is available online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Customer Service Agents in the Unemployment Insurance Operations Center will be available when business hours resume 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Tuesday, Jan. 17 weather permitting, Los Alamos County Traffic and Streets crews will be closing the sidewalk at the northwest corner of Diamond Drive at Sandia Drive.

Southbound Diamond Drive pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the East side of Diamond Drive at the intersection of Sandia Drive and Diamond Drive.

New Mexico More Than Doubles Number Of Teachers Receiving Debt Relief

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) announced that it has more than doubled the number of teachers receiving loan forgiveness through the state’s Teacher Loan Repayment Program, thanks to additional funding approved by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham in 2022.  

The agency awarded funding to 966 new applicants and renewed funding for 445 applicants, marking the largest number of teachers to ever benefit from the Teacher Loan Repayment Program in a single year.
