Bald Eagle Is Great Symbol Of American Patriotism

This bald eagle perched in a tree was spotted Wednesday during a road trip in Big Timber, Mont., near the Boulder River. Benjamin Franklin thought the wild turkey would be a better symbol because it was a much more respectable bird. The other members of Congress did not agree with Mr. Franklin.
