Microseal Project In White Rock Begins Thursday

COUNTY News:
 
IPR, Limited crews will start the microseal project beginning Thursday on Rover Boulevard at Grand Canyon Drive heading toward Meadow Lane in White Rock.
 
They will continue down Meadow Lane looping toward Grand Canyon Drive. The project stops at Grand Canyon on Meadow Lane. Crews will be working 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily. All work should be completed by Oct. 29, weather permitting.
 
During the application, one lane will be closed allowing for one way traffic via a flagging operation. It is expected that the coating will cure enough to cross within 25-30 minutes

Governor Announces Expansion Of Homegrown High-Tech Manufacturing Company 3DGS

ALBUQUERQUE Gov. Susana Martinez announced Monday that homegrown high-tech manufacturing company, 3D Glass Solutions (3DGS), will expand its headquarters location in Albuquerque and create up to 139 new high-wage, high-tech manufacturing and technology jobs.
 
The average salary for positions at 3DGS is $60,000 a year. The company also plans to invest more than $23 million over the next five years. The expansion is being supported by New Mexico’s closing fund, LEDA, as well as the Job Training Incentive Program, JTIP.

NMSP: Fatal Crash On 285 In Chaves County

NMSP News:
 
CHAVES COUNTY Around 6:30 a.m. Monday, New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash on US Highway 285 at about mile post 90 south of Roswell.
 
The initial investigation indicates a 2000 Nissan, driven by Alejandro Chavez, 34, of Roswell was travelling south at a high rate of speed behind a south bound 2003 Peterbilt Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV). For unknown reasons, the Nissan rear ended the CMV. Chavez sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) convened a roundtable last week with health care providers, local law enforcement, community leaders and stakeholders to discuss a path forward to continue the fight against the opioid epidemic in New Mexico.
 
Congress recently passed an opioids package that included ten of Congressman Luján’s pieces of legislation. Attendees at the roundtable in Española discussed how this legislative package is a step forward in what needs to be a sustained effort to combat the opioid epidemic in local communities.
