HSD To Hold Hearing On Medicaid Cuts Wednesday

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Human Services Department will hold a hearing on the serious cuts the Medicaid program faces in the Centennial Care 2.0 waiver proposal 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday at in the Rio Grande Conference Room of the Toney Anaya Building at 2550 Cerillos Road in Santa Fe.
 
The waiver proposal imposes new excessive patient premiums on low-income adults living just above the poverty line. These fees will cause thousands of New Mexicans to lose healthcare coverage.

Excellence in Teaching Award: Call For Nominations To Honor Teachers In Rio Arriba County & Pojoaque

Española — Nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Excellence in Teaching Award. In addition to honoring teachers in Rio Arriba County, this year educators in Pojoaque also are eligible.

An engraved plaque and $1,000 prize will be given to seven teachers in honor of their dedication and to bring encouragement and support to the education profession.

FBI: Roswell Woman Gets 10 Years For Trafficking Meth

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE – Monica Vega, 36, of Roswell was sentenced today in federal court in Las Cruces to 120 months in prison for her conviction on methamphetamine trafficking charges. Vega will be on supervised release for five years after completing her prison sentence.

Vega was arrested Nov. 17, 2017, on a three-count indictment charging her with methamphetamine trafficking and firearms offenses. The indictment charged Vega with possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute April 20, 2017 and Oct. 20, 2017, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime

Microseal Project In White Rock Begins Thursday

COUNTY News:
 
IPR, Limited crews will start the microseal project beginning Thursday on Rover Boulevard at Grand Canyon Drive heading toward Meadow Lane in White Rock.
 
They will continue down Meadow Lane looping toward Grand Canyon Drive. The project stops at Grand Canyon on Meadow Lane. Crews will be working 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily. All work should be completed by Oct. 29, weather permitting.
 
During the application, one lane will be closed allowing for one way traffic via a flagging operation. It is expected that the coating will cure enough to cross within 25-30 minutes
