Man Arrested Following Police Shooting Involving Otero County Sheriff’s Office And New Mexico Game And Fish

CLOUDCROFT The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was contacted Dec. 28 to investigate a police shooting involving the Otero County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico Game and Fish.
 
State Police agents learned that around 7:30 p.m., the Otero County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico Game and Fish responded to a domestic violence incident at 55 West Side Road in Otero County.
 
As Otero County Deputy and Game and Fish officers arrived at the residence, at least one gunshot was fired from inside the residence toward the location of deputies

New Mexico Minimum Wage Increase Begins Jan. 1

Jan. 1, 2020, the New Mexico Minimum Wage will increase to $9 an hour. This increase is in accordance with an amendment to the New Mexico Minimum Wage Act signed into law April 1, 2019 by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2020:

  • State minimum wage: $9 per hour; and
  • State tipped minimum wage: $2.35 per hour.

We have some young people to thank, for helping our local senior centers stay on an even keel. Los Alamos High School students have been helpful in so many ways throughout the holiday season. It is time we stop and say thank you to them all.

ABIQUIU LAKE The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Abiquiu Lake will host its annual midwinter eagle count event 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020.
 
The event is free and open to the public.
 
Volunteers will meet at the Abiquiu Lake Visitor Center. The New Mexico Wildlife Center will present a short educational program on bald eagles. At 10 a.m., volunteers will be directed to various locations around the lake to begin the eagle count.
