BLM Hosts First Friday Lecture Series At Rio Grande Lower Gorge Visitor Center

TAOS The Bureau of Land Management Taos Field Office invites the public to attend a presentation about the unique geology of the Rio Grande.
 
Dr. Paul Bauer, the former associate director of the New Mexico Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources at New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology, will give a lecture about his 30+ years of investigating the geology and hydrogeology of Taos County, followed by a question and answer session. The lecture will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3 at the Rio Grande Lower Gorge Visitor Center.

Traffic Alert: NM 502 Traffic Switch During Otowi Bridge Rehabilitation Work Starting Monday

NMDOT News:

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) continues bridge rehabilitation work on N.M. 502 at mile marker 11 at the Otowi Bridge over the Rio Grande between Pojoaque and Los Alamos. 

Monday, Aug. 6 on N.M. 502, a concrete wall barrier will be placed through the work zone. Traffic will be switched over to the westbound lanes. There will be one lane of travel in each direction on the westbound lanes.

Governor: Back To School Tax Free Weekend Aug. 3-5

SANTA FE — Gov. Susana Martinez announced today New Mexico’s annual back to school tax-free weekend, which aims to help families save money and prepare their students for the upcoming school year. 

 

The tax holiday runs Aug. 3 through Aug. 5.

 

“Preparing to go back to school is expensive for families across New Mexico,” Martinez said. “Tax-free weekend is a great way for us to help families save their hard-earned money, as they equip their children for a successful school year.”
