ANGEL FIRE A Native American Veterans Exhibit will open Aug. 4 at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Angel Fire.
 
New Mexico Department of Veterans Services (DVS) Secretary Jack Fox will be joined at a noon ceremony by prominent Native American veterans and members of the veteran community to welcome the exhibit to the Memorial, which is managed by DVS.

FBI: Santa Fe Cardiologist Gets 51 Months In Prison

ALBUQUERQUE Chief U.S. District Judge William P. “Chip” Johnson sentenced Roy G. Heilbron last week in Federal Court in Albuquerque to 51 months of imprisonment for his convictions on health care fraud and obstruction of justice charges.
 
The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney John C. Anderson, Acting Special Agent in Charge Maxwell D. Marker of the FBI’s Albuquerque Division and U.S. Marshal Sonya K. Chavez.

WWII Vet Finally Receives Bronze Star Medal Friday

SANTA FE – World War II veteran Dennis Ferk will be presented with a Bronze Star Medal at a special presentation ceremony at 1:30 p.m., Friday at the Santa Fe Vet Center at 2209 Brothers Road in Santa Fe.

Ferk had earned this prestigious award for meritorious achievement during ground combat from April 1942 to May 1944 in New Guinea in the Pacific Theater of World War II.

At the ceremony, he also will be presented with an American Defense Service Medal, an American Campaign Medal, and a World War II Victory Medal.
