New Mexico Launches COVID-19 Emotional Support Helpline

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Human Services Department, Behavioral Health Services Division and the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line are announcing a campaign to raise awareness about the availability of a 24/7 statewide emotional support helpline to assist New Mexicans who are experiencing anxiety, stress or emotional challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Los Alamos Family Council Youth Activity Centers Resume Operations Practicing COVID-19 Safe Practices Aug. 13

Youth Activity Centers News:

The Youth Activity Centers (YACs) in Los Alamos and White Rock will resume operations on the first day of school for the Los Alamos Public Schools.

The Youth Activity Centers operate afterschool 3-6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays.

Los Alamos Family Council (LAFC) understands that students will not be attending school in person at the beginning of the school year – but seeks to be of assistance by providing supervised activities for youth for part of the day.

Traffic Alert Update: Travel Now Running Smoothly On N.M. 4

Traffic Alert Update:

Traffic is now moving smoothly in both directions between the Truck Route and White Rock on N.M. 4 following the mishap earlier this morning in which trailer flipped over and blocked the roadway.

However, the Los Alamos Police Department is utilizing the shoulder while awaiting the arrival of a wrecker to remove the flipped trailer.

There is construction debris near the scene of the accident and motorists should slow down and proceed through this area at mile marker 66 with caution.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 226 additional positive tests for COVID-19.

Los Alamos County remains at 20 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.

Today’s update announces 3 additional deaths reported in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

The New Mexico Department of Health reported today the most recent cases:

  • 61 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 15 new cases in Chaves County
  • 3 new cases in Cibola County
  • 1 new case in Colfax County
  • 22 new cases in Curry County

Live Streaming Of Supreme Court Hearing On Enforcement Of Public Health Emergency Orders

SANTA FE — There will be live streaming of a Supreme Court hearing Tuesday, Aug. 4, in a case concerning the state’s authority to enforce public health emergency orders by imposing civil administrative penalties.

Oral arguments in the case will begin at 9 a.m., and New Mexico PBS, KNME-TV, will stream the hearing on its YouTube channel.
