The New Mexico Department of Health offered this supplemental information to share with the community about humans, pets and tularemia:

How long are people contagious?

People are not contagious; a person with tularemia cannot spread it to another person.

Who gets tularemia?

Any person can get tularemia. This includes people from all parts of New Mexico.

What treatment is available for people with tularemia?

Early treatment with an antibiotic is recommended.

Tularemia – Citizens Need To Be Cautious, watchful, Especially With Pets

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Emergency Management officials commented Tuesday to clarify information on social media sites sharing New Mexico Department of Health information that tularemia cases had been reported in various Northern New Mexico communities, including Los Alamos.

Last year, Los Alamos had seven cases of tularemia in pets in Los Alamos.

Enforcement Sweep Progresses On Unhitched Trailers

COUNTY News:

According to County officials, the enforcement sweep for finding unhitched has been making progress. Under new changes to the County code that took effect in February, local Code Enforcement Officers have been assisting LAPD with locating unhitched trailers and tagging or towing them if they are parked on streets, highways and public parking areas.
