Compass Rose Painting Completed On Runway At Los Alamos County Airport

Members of the Rio Grande Norte Chapter of the 99’s organization have completed their project of painting a compass rose on the runway of the Los Alamos County Airport. They explained that the compass is used by pilots to calibrate their aircrafts. This particular compass is 42 feet in diameter. The 99’s is an international organization of women aviators. This Saturday, Oct. 7, visitors are invited to spend a fine autumn day in Frijoles Canyon at Bandelier’s annual Fall Fiesta, 11-3 at the park Visitor Center.

Each weekend through the summer, Pueblo cultural demonstrators showcase their work at the park. For the Fall Fiesta, all these artists are invited to come on the one day, sell their crafts, and talk with visitors. In addition, it’s also a chance for the artists to visit with each other.

County Libraries Celebrate Latinx Heritage Month

It’s a fiesta! Join Los Alamos County Libraries to celebrate Latinx Heritage Month starting Tuesday.

Observed annually from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 as a way to celebrate the heritage and culture of Hispanic and Latinx Americans, the libraries will celebrate with a week of bilingual programs for children.

This includes music and movement programs and storytimes in Spanish and English for children 0-6 and a special afterschool event for kids 6-12 with a story and activity in Spanish and English.
