To honor those whose lives have been touched by this disease, not only are staff and officials wearing pink each Tuesday but they also painted all the speed bumps pink in the parking lot. School Board Talks Back To PED On Science Standards

LAPS News:

Recently, the Public Education Department asked for comments about their proposed science standards for New Mexico public schools. Being that Los Alamos is a community that highly values science, the Los Alamos School Board has written a response to PED.

Sidewalk Renovations Underway At Museum Parke

Work crews are removing and replacing the sidewalks around Museum Parke at Central Avenue and 15th Street. Owner Roger Waterman told the Los Alamos Daily Post that the sidewalks have sunk a bit over the last 20 years so he is replacing them as well as performing other corrective actions to the property. Closure Order Rescinded For Continental Divide Trail

SANTA FE  The Santa Fe National Forest has rescinded the closure order for a segment of the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) on the Coyote Ranger District effective at 8 a.m. today, Oct. 3.
 
The CDT from the Ojitos Trailhead at Scull Bridge on the Chama River to the CDT crossing at NM Highway 96 was closed on July 26 to provide for public safety as fire crews worked on the lightning-caused Ojitos Fire on the boundary of the Chama River Canyon Wilderness.

Compass Rose Painting Completed On Runway At Los Alamos County Airport

Members of the Rio Grande Norte Chapter of the 99’s organization have completed their project of painting a compass rose on the runway of the Los Alamos County Airport. They explained that the compass is used by pilots to calibrate their aircrafts. This particular compass is 42 feet in diameter. The 99’s is an international organization of women aviators.
