Celebrate National Library Week and National Poetry Month at local libraries this month.
The public is invited to the following events:

6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 18 in the Upstairs Rotunda, the Library will host a Poetry Potluck. April is National Poetry Month and Mesa Public Library will be hosting a fun and informal open mic night. Bring poems and a food item to share at the poetry potluck.

7 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at White Rock Town Hall, Family Friendly Film Series presents Rise of the Guardians .

Kirt Kempter Talks On Abiquiu Region Geology Tonight

The next meeting of the Los Alamos Geological Society is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 at the Christian Church, 92 East Road.
Dr. Kirt Kempter will talk about the geology of the Abiquiu Region. He is a geologist and educator living in Santa Fe.
Kempter’s primary field study areas include the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico, Copper Canyon in Mexico and the Rincon de la Vieja volcano in northwestern Costa Rica.

Two Dead, Dozens Wounded in Boston Marathon Explosions
Breaking News:
At 2:50 p.m. east coast time today, two explosions about 20 seconds apart killed two people and injured dozens more, according to multiple news reports.
The explosions occurred near the finish line at the Boston Marathon where runners and spectators crowded the area.
Most recent reports are calling these explosions a “terrorist attack” and officials have shut down the air space over Boston.
A third explosion has been reported to have occurred at the JFK Library several miles from the Boston Marathon finish line.
