Los Alamos High School Athletic Director and LAPS Title IX Coordinator Ann Stewart will speak Thursday, Nov. 17 at a forum on implementing Title IX, hosted by the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
The forum is at 7 p.m. at the White Rock Branch Library on Sherwood Boulevard and is part of the November AAUW branch meeting.

In an epic gridiron battle on the football field, Los Alamos Youth Football (Division II, 7-8 yrs. old) beat out the Albuquerque High Bulldogs in double overtime in the playoffs on Saturday.

Lorna Bossom McIntyre, 97, passed away peacefully November 12th, 2016.
She was proceeded in death by husbands Rea Blossom and James McIntyre, Sister Louise Bennett and son Patrick Blossom. She is survived by her sister Marie, sons Rea Bruce and wife Cindy, James Michael and wife Tionne, David Andrew, Robert Quentin and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Lorna was a veteran having served in WWII as a Captain in Military Intelligence at the Pentagon in what would become the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Donald Roy Francis Cochran, 90, of Highlands Ranch, CO, formerly of Los Alamos, NM, passed peacefully on October 31, 2016, surrounded by his wife, Joan Cochran, and children, Jim Cochran, Robert Cochran, and Marcia Cochran Mahoney.
Born in San Francisco in 1926 to Guy and Edith Cochran, Don went on to serve the US Navy from 1945-1946, obtain a degree from U.C. In response to the letter about wildlife published in today’s Los Alamos Daily Post – the dumpsters are the property of Los Alamos County. LAMC has been working diligently with both Los Alamos County and New Mexico Game and Fish to resolve this difficult issue.
All three organizations have worked cooperatively to purchase new bear-resistant dumpsters that, we hope, will soon be delivered. Unfortunately the dumpsters are manufactured to order, so the process takes some time.

NM 502 Pavement Preservation Work To Begin Nov. 15
STATE News:
SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will begin paving operations on N.M. 502 from mile maker 5.00 to mile marker 6.40 approximately two miles east of Los Alamos.
Starting 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, N.M. 502 will have intermittent lane closures on the eastbound and westbound lanes. Motorists can expect minor delays during this time. The paving operation work is scheduled to be completed Nov. 14; weather permitting.

SANTA FE – Volunteers who collectively donated more than 12,000 hours of time this year to help improve more than 290 miles of trail on the Espanola and Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger Districts of the Santa Fe National Forest were honored this month at the forest’s Volunteer Fiesta.
More than 40 volunteers attended the Fiesta to celebrate the dedication and accomplishments of all who donate time and energy to benefit the SFNF.
