AAUW News:

Los Alamos High School Athletic Director and LAPS Title IX Coordinator Ann Stewart will speak Thursday, Nov. 17 at a forum on implementing Title IX, hosted by the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

The forum is at 7 p.m. at the White Rock Branch Library on Sherwood Boulevard and is part of the November AAUW branch meeting.

Title IX requires:

  • Equal opportunities in sports
  • Equal opportunities in academic classes
  • Freedom from sexual harassment
  • Freedom from bullying

AAUW strongly supports the vigorous enforcement of Title IX and all other civil rights laws pertaining to education.

Stewart was born in Los Alamos, attended Chamisa, Aspen and Pinon grammar schools, LAMS and graduated from LAHS in 1991. She earned All-State honors in both soccer and basketball as a student athlete at LAHS.  She then attended Creighton University on a soccer scholarship until a back injury ended her soccer career. Stewart holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of New Mexico and a Master’s Degree in educational administration from Grand Canyon University. This is her third year as the athletic director for Los Alamos Public Schools.
