Juvenile Airlifted To Area Hospital Following Rollover Crash In Rendija Canyon Wednesday

LAPD News:

Los Alamos police responded to a call Wednesday of a possible rollover accident involving one vehicle in Rendija Canyon north of the shooting range.

Upon the officers arrival, they discovered a 2001 Ford Escape resting on its roof after rolling over. The individuals inside the vehicle were all juveniles. One juvenile was ejected from the vehicle and had to be flown to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

This case is active and the investigation into the crash is being conducted. There is nothing further to report at this time. Read More

Phone Scam Reported In Los Alamos

Los Alamos County has received complaints from citizens about a phone scam that has been making the rounds in New Mexico communities for the past year and which appears to be actively occurring here with phone calls in Los Alamos.

 

In the latest version of the scam, residents receive a phone call and are informed there is a warrant out for their arrest because they had been summoned for jury duty and failed to appear. The caller then states aggressively that the resident needs to “pay for the fines over the phone” or “wire money to an account” and resolve a warrant fee to clear Read More

The New Mexico Department of Health announced Wednesday a second confirmed case of the Zika virus in the state.

The first case was discovered in March  in a 46-year-old Bernallilo County man who was infected while traveling in Central America. The second case, announced Wednesday, involves a 40-year-old Bernalillo County woman who aquired the virus while traveling to the Caribbean.

LAFD Hydrant Testing Runs Through October

The Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) will be testing fire hydrants throughout Los Alamos County June through October. 

The purpose of hydrant testing is to ensure that they will provide an adequate water supply for fire suppression and to flush out sediments that have accumulated in the water distribution system over the past year. These tests are part of the regular hydrant maintenance program and are done in conjunction with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU).
