The Los Alamos ScienceFest has announced its call for entries for its sixth annual SMART Contest – a Science and Math-Based Art contest. A panel of local judges will select winners that will share in cash prizes.

Artists from around the world are called on to creatively demonstrate a scientific or mathematical concept, principle, or phenomena through artistic media including digital, drawing, photography, sculpture, performance, painting, fiber arts, etc.,” said Rose Evans, curator of the Los Alamos Creative District. “Prize winners will be selected for visual impact/interest, originality and innovation, and representation of a scientific/mathematical principle or phenomena.”

The SMART Contest is free to enter. All entrants must be 18 years of age or older. To enter, artists must upload a digital representation of their artwork onto the contest website. Entries will be accepted through July 4th. Contest winners and awards will be announced during the Los Alamos ScienceFest Festival Day on July 16, 2016.
