SANTA FE — Velarde-based, inter-generational art collective “The Eyes of Time” will be debuting their project Paradox Incubators in the storefront of Zoomies Dog Daycare at 513 Camino De Los Marquez, in Santa Fe.

The project is part of a month-long Windows on the Future series presented by Vital Spaces, 516 ARTS, and The Paseo Project featuring more than 50 storefront installations across Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos. See more at vitalspaces.org.

This project involves four oil painted boxes, each suspended from the ceiling, spewing colorful tendrils. These tendrils have splatted onto the storefront window, leaving the impression of mysterious glyphic-like patterns. Audiences can scan these patterns with their cell phones to open a vista into another world, where they will meet a friendly being named Piley whose human friend Corina needs your help.

Corina has come from the past, where she is having a crisis in her life. She left her world to seek help from Piley, who has given her a glimpse of her world’s future—one informed by pandemic.

Audiences can look through Corina’s eyes and shape her perspective with their own. Beyond the interactive story of Piley and Corina, the Paradox Incubators also offer audiences a doorway into the larger Eyes of Time storyline, a vast multimedia “alternate reality game” exploring Northern New Mexico’s history and places. Highlighting local history with a touch of mysticism, the Eyes of Time offers a storyline approach found in alternate reality games. Created by the community, for the community, the game was developed by a local collective dedicated to creating time-traveling adventure games throughout Northern New Mexico.

“This game is a platform, not only for fun and adventure, but also for social dialogue and art—connecting past with the present, the future, and beyond,” Artistic Director Devon Hoffman said.
