LAAC Announces 20X20 ScienceFest Art Challenge Winners

LAAC News:

Ten pieces of art lined the sidewalk July 7 through July 12 at Fuller Lodge Art Center.

The pieces were part of the Los Alamos Arts Council’s and Fuller Lodge Art Center’s 20X20 ScienceFest Art Challenge. The Los Alamos Creative District also contributed to the event.

Winners were selected in three categories:

  • Teen 1st Place- Elektra Caffrey, Teen 2nd Place- Emelia White
  • Adult 1st Place- Renae Mitchell, Adult 2nd Place- Erin Scott, Adult 3rd Place- Wendi Dunn
  • Family 1st Place- The Rogers Family, Family 2nd Place- Los Alamos STEAM Lab, Family 3rd Place- The Burns Family
  • Honorable Mention: Samuel Buelow and Chris Judson

For the challenge, artists were encouraged to share their 2020 vision by creating a piece with the theme of ScienceFest 20/20: Eyes on the Future. Participants were provided with a 20” by 20” wooden panel to decorate as they pleased.

At the end of the week, a variety of prizes were awarded. First prize in each category was a one-year membership to Los Alamos Arts Council. Prizes also included Chamber Checks and gift cards.

The Arts Council and Art Center thanked the artists for their time and effort to bring some scientific beauty to Downtown Los Alamos.
