History On Tap At UnQuarked Thursday

Join the Historical Society for History on Tap at 5:30 p.m. this Thursday at UnQuarked for an engaging discussion about the U.S. / Russian Laboratory-to-Laboratory interactions that began in 1992.

What evolved from these exchanges was cooperation that ultimately assured the safety and security of nuclear weapons and materials in a time of political and economic upheaval following the breakup of the Soviet Union. Scientists who participated in the lab-to-lab exchange will share their stories and lead the discussion.

UnQuarked Wine Room is at 145 Central Park Square in downtown Los Alamos.

The On Tap series happens every first and third Thursday of the month, featuring a new topic each time. The first Thursday of month rotates topics on history, nature, and art. The third Thursday of the month is always Science on Tap. History on Tap is sponsored by the Los Alamos Creative District and hosted by the Los Alamos Historical Society. This series begins each evening with an informal 10 to 15 minute lecture followed by a lively group discussion. “On Tap” is a way for people to get out and about in the community, learn something new, and meet people with similar interests. Admission is free and open to the general public.

The Los Alamos Creative District is a program of Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation; a private, not-for-profit economic and community development organization serving the Los Alamos area since 1983. LACDC serves as the umbrella organization for the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce, Los Alamos MainStreet, the Los Alamos Meeting & Visitors Bureau, Los Alamos Small Business Center and the Los Alamos Research Park.
