PEEC News:

The community is invited to observe the moon and nearby planets through telescopes at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8 at the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road.

This fun evening also will include activities, conversations with local astronomers, and exploring the virtual galaxy in the planetarium. Summer Family Evenings would not be possible without the generous support of Del Norte Credit Union.

Over the course of the summer, a variety of animals and organizations will visit the nature center Wednesday evenings. There is something for everyone.

Here is a list of this year’s Summer Family Evenings schedule:
  • June 15 – Snakes from Albuquerque’s rattlesnake museum;
  • June 22 – Wolves from Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary;
  • June 29 – Goats from Gypsy Mountain Ranch and Second Bloom Farm;
  • July 6 – All kinds of creatures from Harrell House of Natural Oddities;
  • July 13 – Raptors from the Raptor Center presented by Dr. Kathleen Ramsay;
  • July 20 – Burro packers from Paraje Atajo Guest House; and
  • July 27 – Wildland Fire Fighters and their fire truck.
Summer Family Evenings are free for Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) members, or $5 per family for non-members. No registration is required.
