Bennett’s Donates $500 to Kiwanis

Allison and Melanie Bennett presented a $500 check Tuesday to Kiwanis President Don Casperson for Kiwanis programs that benefit children. Bennett’s Fine Jewelry and Gifts created a December fundraiser during its Holiday Open House in which for three days the store sold cake slices for $5. Hidden under the icing of each cake slice was a gemstone. Customers didn’t know if they would get a diamond, a ruby or another fine gemstone. GORDON NEAL KEATING 1966Feb. 14, 2013

Gordon Neal Keating of Los Alamos, New Mexico died peacefully February 14, after a lengthy illness. He passed away at home surrounded by close family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jody Keating, and is survived by his father, Richard Keating (of Edwardsville, IL.), wife, Elizabeth, daughters, Flannery and Zoë, and brother Phillip (of Denver, Colo.)

He grew up in Edwardsville, IL., and attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. He was passionate about geology, especially volcanology. After college, Gordon worked for Read More

CIP Projects: A Message from County Administrator Harry Burgess

Two months ago, County Administrator Harry Burgess put Capital Improvement Projects on hold after it was revealed that the County faced an unexpected GRT funding shortfall. Some of the projects on hold include: Ashley Pond Improvements; New Teen Center; and the New Nature Center.
