Deacon Closed at 15th Monday, Nov. 12

Monday, Nov. 12, the Eastern Area 2 project contractor will be working to install a valley gutter across Deacon at 15th Street.

Assuming the weather cooperates, the valley gutter will be excavated and concrete should be placed by the end of day Monday.

Once the concrete is finished off, the contractor will place a steel plate across the intersection and reopen the intersection.

The fresh concrete will need to cure for five days. Depending on the weather received over the weekend, the work may be delayed until Tuesday.

Those needing access to Deacon should enter Deacon from 20th Street during Read More

As an aside, I find it interesting Read More

By Tina Schueler
Los Alamos

In response to recent concerns voiced about vaccine rights, this is a case of the rights of the many vs. the rights of the few.

Vaccines only work to preserve the general population if “herd immunity” is achieved, when vaccines are administered to a high percentage (85 percent.)

With fewer parents vaccinating their children whether due to personal choice, safety concerns or greater awareness of the health risks to a susceptible child, this high percentage is not being met in some areas and outbreaks have occurred.

Our medical community is rightly concerned Read More
