County: Atomic City Transit Detour On Route 2M (White Rock/Main Hill) Begins Monday Aug. 16

COUNTY News:

Atomic City Transit will operate a detour on Route 2M (White Rock via Main Hill) due to the Main Hill rockfall mitigation project and road closure starting Monday, Aug. 16.

The project is expected to take 10 working days to complete.

The Route 2M detour is expected to be active 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday while the Main Hill is closed.

During the detour, Route 2M will travel on the Truck Route instead of the Main Hill and make a loop Downtown after arriving at the Transit Center.

County Announces Lemon Lot Online Permitting Option

COUNTY News:

As of this week, individuals who live or work in Los Alamos County can reserve online a space in the County’s Lemon Lot through the Los Alamos County Park, Recreation and Facility Reservation website. 

The Lemon Lot, next to the Sullivan Field parking lot on Diamond Drive between Canyon Road and Trinity Drive, is where local residents sell used vehicles.

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11.

This meeting will be held in person at the Council Chambers 1000 Central Avenue and virtually on Zoom.

This meeting is open to the public.

Recently, the County Council approved a communications and outreach plan for the Community Development Advisory Board (CDAB). This is a plan that was developed by our communications working group to both inform as well as get feedback from the community about the Chapter 18 nuisance code.

This feedback will help the board collaborate with the consultant (Dekker/Perich/Sabbatini) during the re-write process for the nuisance code.

For the past 4 weeks we have been visiting our daughter, son-in-law and our beautiful 6 and 4 year old grandchildren in your wonderful city.

As both kids love your skate park next to the library, we are frequent visitors. Lately we’ve noticed lots of trash, broken glass and some graffiti, all of which are not only unsightly and dangerous but do not fit the Los Alamos image.

I’ve got a few suggestions for the city fathers and mothers:

UPDATE To New Mexico COVID-19 Update: 671 New Cases, Totaling 213,247 With ‘6’ New Deaths, 197,222 Recovered

Update: New Mexico state health officials sent a revised report Sunday indicating there were 6 not 3 new deaths in the state Friday due to COVID-19 and 5 not 2 new cases in Los Alamos bringing the county total to 566.

SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials Friday announced 671 additional COVID-19 cases.

Los Alamos County reports 2 new cases bringing the total to 561 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
