County Monitoring Weather Conditions … No Changes For Facilities Or Services Yet

COUNTY News:

Update 6:15 a.m.: The Chamber of Commerce breakfast set for 7:30 this morning featuring County Manager Harry Burgess with a recap of 2019 has been canceled due to the UNM-LA delayed opening. LANL and Schools are on delayed opening.

No changes for County facilities or services at this point; however, the current forecast for snow indicates the storm that had been expected overnight may now begin moving in from the south to arrive in Los Alamos around 10 a.m. today.

Snow and Ice crews in the County Traffic Division are monitoring the situation to keep local roads safe today.

State Police Begin Traffic Safety Operations On Interstate 25 And I-40 In Bernalillo County Monday

ALBUQUERQUE — In response to the Albuquerque Police Department’s request for assistance with traffic enforcement on the interstate, the New Mexico State Police will start conducting targeted operations on Interstate 25 and Interstate 40 in Bernalillo County.

Monday, Jan. 13, officers will be visible on the highways during peak traffic hours and will take proactive measures to reduce crashes, aggressive driving and driver inattention. Read More

Military Plane Conducts Training At Los Alamos Airport

A HC 130J Combat King military plane begins its descent this morning onto the runway at Los Alamos County Airport. The plane, which flew from Kirtland Airforce Base in Albuquerque, conducted a training session at the local airport, County Airport Manager Cameron Humphres said. He explained that Los Alamos Airport was selected for the training because of its high altitude and short runway. The plane conducted two landings and two takeoffs at the airport.
