Santa Fe Children’s Museum Selected For STEM Education Partnership With Cummins Inc.

SANTA FE — Santa Fe Children’s Museum (SFCM) has announced its selection as one of 20 children’s museums to participate in a STEM education initiative funded by Cummins Inc. and administered by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM).

Through this partnership, Santa Fe Children’s Museum will receive $10,000 to develop and deliver innovative science, technology, engineering, and mathematics programming (STEM) designed to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico.

Los Alamos High School’s Robotics Team 4153, “Project Y”, has been hard at work since January designing and building a custom robot to compete in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) district events.  Led by CEO John Kang, Project Y competed twice recently in both Fort Worth and Amarillo, Texas, and earned the District Points and ranking status to advance to the FIRST in Texas District Championships.

County: Internet Outage Affecting Eco Station

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Environmental Services is experiencing an internet and phone service outage at the Eco Station today, Monday, April 6.

The Eco Station remains open and is providing services manually, but may not be able to respond to email or receive phone calls.

Staff is asking for the public’s patience as services may take an additional few minutes when checking in at the entry scale.

Environmental Services first noticed the outage on Saturday afternoon, April 4. County Information Management is trying to determine the cause.

Thousands In Sierra County Gain Access To Broadband

ALBUQUERQUE — Nearly 3,000 locations, including homes, businesses, and farms in Truth or Consequences and Williamsburg, now have access to high-speed fiber internet, following the completion of a broadband infrastructure project funded by the state’s Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE).
