ALBUQUERQUE – Per the guidance of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and recommendations from both the Departments of Health and Public Education, the 2020 NMAA State Basketball Championships will move forward without fans.
Games will be played at both Dreamstyle Arena and the Santa Ana Star Center throughout the remainder of the event as originally scheduled.
Only team members, officials, and essential facility and tournament workers will be allowed in the buildings. Members of the media will not be allowed entrance to either facility.

The Topper softball team traveled Saturday to Albuquerque to play the Albuquerque Academy Chargers. The Toppers jumped out to a 8-0 lead by the fifth inning and the Chargers mounted a run, which brought the score to 9-9 by the sixth inning. The Toppers rallied to score the winning run in the seventh inning. The Toppers batting was the deciding factor with two home runs, one by Katie Wimer, pictured celebrating as she rounds first on her way home as the third batter in the first inning, which set the mood for a run at the plate scoring five runs in the second inning. The Topper baseball team played this weekend in the Andres Arguello Tournament at St Pius in Albuquerque. For the first game, the Toppers played the Santa Fe Demons Thursday and won 10-0 in five innings. The Toppers played a solid game led by the pitching of Taylor Drake, pictured, who was credited with eight strike outs and allowed only one hit for the game. The Los Alamos Community Foundation (LACF) is now accepting grant applications requesting up to $1,500 to fund competitive youth sports activities in Los Alamos County.
Organizations are invited to apply for funding for projects that build leadership skills in youth through achievement in competitive team sports. Youth served by the program must be located in Los Alamos County and/or attend Los Alamos public schools and be between the ages of 5-18 years old.

The Los Alamos Aquatomics participated in the New Mexico Swimming B Championship meet Feb. 29 to March 1 at the University of New Mexico .
The team placed fourth overall (with 12 swimmers) and won the Spirit Award for outstanding team spirit and sportsmanship.
