Los Alamos resident Hope Jaramillo died in January, and community members and the Los Alamos County Parks and Recreation Board are considering naming a softball field after her.

Jaramillo, who died from cancer, was extremely active in the high school softball program. A player herself in school, Jaramillo went on to be a coach and a volunteer in the local softball programs.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Tyler Jenson and Max McGaha, students at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, have been selected as the 2020 Section 6 recipients of the “National High School Spirit of Sport Award” by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).

Major League Baseball Suspends Spring Training

NMAA Postpones State Spirit Championships And Suspends All Activity And Spring Sports Programs Until Further Notice

ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico Activities Association and its Board of Directors has postponed the State Spirit Championships and suspended all activity programs and spring athletic programs until further notice. 

This includes practices as well as contests/events. The State Basketball Championships will continue with final games being played tomorrow.  

This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat and the Public Education Department’s announcement that schools will be closed for three weeks starting on Monday.
