‘Los Alamos Friends’ Hosts New Year’s Eve Open House

LOS ALAMOS FRIENDS News:

Celia Browne will be hosting a New Year’s Eve open house for the new social club, Los Alamos Friends, at her home on Arizona Avenue. 

The event starts at 6 p.m. and will run until midnight or later. There will be food, wine, punch and treats; anyone attending can bring a bottle of wine or a dish to pass but it’s not required.

Local Cartoonist Signing Books Dec. 17

Local cartoonist Stephen McCranie will be hosting a release party for his new book at the Los Alamos County Library 4-6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17.

The new book, Belly Flop!, is the third volume of an all-ages graphic novel series called Mal and Chad. McCranie will give a short talk and will be available afterwards to chat and sign books.

Books can be purchased for $10.

McCranie graduated from Los Alamos High School and attended the University of New Mexico. While there, he began working on a comic strip called Mal and Chad about a boy genius and his talking dog for the UNM school newspaper.

Well I must admit that it is a real delight reviewing a movie like this. In spite of the subject material, the way this movie was put together, edited and acted, it’s like sitting down for a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings and having your best friends there, too.
