Community Invited To Holiday Tree Lighting Dec. 8

COUNTY News:

The public is invited to join the Los Alamos County Council as they light up the holiday tree in the Municipal Building lobby at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.

The event is part of the Main Street Association’s Winterfest and there will be free refreshments in the lobby along with a free “selfie” photo booth with a winter scenic backdrop and fun photo props provided inside Council Chambers.

Coro de Camara will be providing holiday tunes when doors to the lobby open at 5 p.m. and the lobby will remain open until 6 p.m. when the light parade begins on Central Avenue. Read More

WinterFest Weekend is just around the corner. The family-oriented events are Dec. 7-9 at numerous places throughout downtown Los Alamos.

WinterFest kicks off the holiday season with events including the North Pole Workshop and Breakfast with Santa. Other highlights include the Fuller Lodge Open House, Crèche Show and Earth Treasure Show. The Fuller Lodge Art Center also will hold its Affordable Arts Sale.

Holiday Game Jam For Kids At Los Alamos Makers

Almost a year ago, Los Alamos Makers hosted the first Global Kids Game Jam teams in Los Alamos.
 
During that Global Game Jam, kids from all over the world came together with their local clubs to create, experiment, socialize and create video games, not just play them. One of the Los Alamos teams was selected for the world finale and invited to Turin, Italy.
 
This year, Los Alamos Makers is hosting a local game jam for kids 7 to 12, with a holiday spirit.
