Determan Endorses Katharine Clark For Secretary Of State

By ANDREA DETERMAN
Former Chair
Los Alamos Democratic Party

The choice in New Mexico’s Secretary of State race is clear—competence or chaos.

Secretary of State is an operations job. It requires judgment, transparency, preparation, and leadership when pressure is highest.

On Monday, a State Auditor-directed special audit documented governance and transparency failures in Doña Ana County government, including findings involving the Clerk’s Office. Auditors identified incomplete official records, missing supporting documents, and transparency failures that reduced the public’s Read More

By GENEVIEVE OSWALD
Town of Taos Councilor & Mayor Pro Tem

I am Genevieve Oswald, a Town of Taos Councilor. Now, not being from your community, I don’t really have much place to offer an opinion or endorsement in your local election — but after serving alongside Los Alamos County Councilor Melanee Hand on the North Central Regional Transit District Board (NCRTD Blue Bus) for the past two and a half years, I feel at least somewhat qualified to throw my voice out into the wind.

What’s important to know is that the Blue Bus doesn’t stop at county lines, and neither do the challenges our communities Read More

Op-Ed: Be Forewarned…

By CHRISTINA STAFFORD
White Rock

Be Forewarned … the signs of N.M. 4 work beginning 5/28/26. It actually started today 5/29/26. The state is repaving. That’s great! HOWEVER, do they EVER plan for a temporary lane? What about Emergency Response events?

With only one road in and out of White Rock (without going through the Jemez, or possessing a LANL badge), this is not just inconvenient, it is dangerous and not well planned for.

May I remind the community, we are currently at a Stage 2 FIRE RESTRICTION! Judging from my sitting at a standstill this morning (9:20 a.m.), what provisions have been made Read More
