TK Thompson Explores ‘The Faces of Jazz’

TK Thompson has been interested in both jazz music and photography since his early teens.

His current exhibit of black and white photographs of jazz musicians plying their trade is titled “Faces of Jazz.”

The exhibit is on display in the Portal Gallery of The Art Center at Fuller Lodge.

The show continues through Aug. 4. An opening reception for “Faces of Jazz” and “Rhapsody in Blue,” the current show in the main gallery, will take place 5-7 p.m., Friday June 29.

LALT Awards Scholarship; Elects Board

At the June 10 Annual Meeting of the Los Alamos Little Theatre, members elected the new Board of Directors and applauded the 2012 recipient of the LALT scholarship.

Los Alamos High School graduate Aidan Bradbury-Aranda received the $1,000 LALT scholarship, given for academic achievement and intent to pursue a career associated with the performing arts.

Business Skills for Artists & Art Organizations Workshop is set for 1-4 p.m., Wednesday June 20 at The Hive, 134 N.M. 4 in White Rock.

This workshop will offer artists, art businesses, and art organizations training on essential business skills.

On June 26, artist M.J. Oref will walk out the door of her Espanola home, jump in her blue Prius and take her show on the road.

Oref plans to spend a month introducing her jewelry to potential customers in a dozen states at private shows hosted by friends and family.

Call for Exhibitors for White Rock’s Art & Artisans Market

The Los Alamos Creative District is now accepting applications for exhibitors/ vendors from throughout the area to display and sell their work at the White Rock Art and Artisans Market.

The market will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Sunday from June 17 until Oct. 21 and is free to the public.

The location will be an outdoor space at the Hive at 134, N.M. 4 in White Rock where about 40 tents and tables can be accommodated.

The Hive is close by the parking and shuttle stop for the Bandelier National Monument shuttle which begins in June – all visitors going to Bandelier will be required to use this shuttle. Read More
