Public Invited to Meet Raptors at PEEC Tuesday

The Santa Fe Raptor Center will bring beautiful birds of prey to PEEC at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday July 17, as part of the Summer Family Evenings series of programs.
Summer Family Evenings are free for PEEC members, and this evening is just $5 per non-member family, which will be donated to the Raptor Center.
Laura Swartz will bring variety of raptors to PEEC, including the Raptor Center’s newest educational bird, Angel.

Kiwanis Presents Scholarship to Ben Schilling
The Kiwanis Club recently recognized Los Alamos High School graduating senior Ben Schilling pictured here with from left, his mother Lori , father Scott and Kiwanis Club President Kristy Keane. Schilling is attending New Mexico Tech in Socorro this fall to study mechanical engineering. He said that he had a great school experience at LAHS and when asked to name one positive item, he stated the students and teachers. A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. today for northern Los Alamos … extreme southeastern Rio Arriba … northwestern Santa Fe … and east central Sandoval counties.
At 5:24 p.m., the National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to indicate a moderate rain continuing over the Las Conchas burn scar … but intensity was trending down.
However … very heavy downpours had occurred over the northern half of the burn scar and rapid runoff and flash flooding is expected to continue.

Santa Fe National Forest Lifts Fire Restrictions
SFNF News:
Effective at 8 a.m., Thursday July 12, the Santa Fe National Forest will go from Stage 2 Fire Restrictions to no fire restrictions forest-wide, to include the Valles Caldera National Preserve.
Current monsoon rains and favorable weather forecasts are allowing for the complete lifting of fire restrictions.

Pet Pangaea’s Offices Vandalized Overnight
Police are on the hunt for the person or persons who threw a rock through the plate glass window of Pet Pangaea’s offices in the former Quest Diagnostic space near Nectar and 15th Street sometime overnight. Owner Cyndi Wells said an employee discovered the broken window and found a rock inside the office area at about 11:30 a.m. today. No one had been at the offices before that time and the window wasn’t broken when the offices closed Tuesday evening, Wells said. Public Invited to Valle Santa Rosa Workshop and Campout

The second of three workshops is planned on the tributaries of San Antonio Creek this summer.
Santa Rosa Creek is a major tributary to San Antonio Creek. It is being severely impacted by increased runoff from adjacent slopes burned by the Las Conchas Fire.
The Los Amigos are again partnering with the Albuquerque Wildlife Federation (AWF) to accomplish valuable wetland restoration.
We will be camping in the far northwest area of the Preserve at the San Antonio Cabin area. We invite you to join us for the two days of work and two nights camping.
