Council Briefed on 4th Quarter and FY 2015 Budget

Deputy County Administrator Steven Lynne briefs Council and provides background financial information to the Council on the FY 2014 first quarter budget review and FY 2015 budget. Together with County Administrator Harry Burgess, Lynne asks Council to discuss and provide FY 2015 budget development guidance to staff. Plan Will Help Struggling Communities Ensure Safe and Secure Water Supply

 

SANTA FE – Gov. Susana Martinez has announced plans to include in her budget recommendation two new state funds that will support local communities dealing with water emergencies, and help struggling communities come up with sound technical plans for projects and upgrades to prevent such emergencies. Martinez’s proposal seeks to establish a Dry Community Water Emergency Fund and a Technical Assistance Planning Fund.

Los Alamos County Ice Rink Presents Skate with Santa and Elves Dec. 14-15

Santa Clause is coming to the ice rink and taking time during his busy holiday schedule to bring his elves to help him greet boys and girls and hand out candy canes. Santa and his elves will pose for pictures on and off the ice.

Come visit Santa and his elves 4-6 p.m., Saturday Dec. 14 and 3-5 p.m. Sunday Dec. 15. Admission for the event is $6.50 at the door, $2.50 for children under 5. Admission includes skate rental. Passes will not be accepted for this special event.

There is a threat, that unless the states of Colorado, Kansas and New Mexico share funding to repair the rails, the route of the Southwest Chief Amtrak train, will be re-routed south, eliminating passenger access for towns between Newton, Kan. and Albuquerque.

The portion of the Los Alamos County Charter related to the Department of Public Utilities’ functions, roles and responsibilities will be the main topic of discussion at the Tuesday, Dec. 3 Council meeting at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, 1000 Central Ave.

Ingredients:

Around 20 frozen dough dinner rolls, defrosted
10 pieces of bacon, fried until crispy and then crumbled
2-3 oz of melted butter
2 cloves of garlic, pressed and added to the butter
Italian Seasonings
Thyme
Good parmesan cheese, grated fine. (Optional)

Man With Gun Robs Santa Fe Credit Union

FBI News:

The FBI and Santa Fe Police Department are looking for a man who used a handgun to rob Del Norte Credit Union at 510 N. Guadalupe St. in Santa Fe on Nov. 25.

The suspect in the robbery of the is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-30s, approximately 6’0″ tall, with a medium build and weighing about 180-200 pounds. He wore a black down jacket with a fur hood, sunglasses, white gloves, and a blue bandana that covered his face.

The Los Alamos Triatomics Club 2013 Christmas Lights Runs begin Dec. 2. Here’s an opportunity to check out the Christmas lights around town and get in a little exercise to burn off that extra slice of Thanksgiving pie.

Runners will wind through Los Alamos neighborhoods to check out the holiday lights. The routes are mostly on quiet residential streets to avoid the noise and smell of traffic. Pajarito Mountain Edges Closer to Opening

PAJARITO MOUNTAIN News:

Pajarito Mountain received about five inches of snow Sunday, which totals about a foot out of the recent storm. Over the weekend, Manager Tom Long and his staff have been track packing the area and evaluating the conditions. They will begin tilling and grooming if enough snow exists to support that activity.

They will begin making snow now to cover some thin places. There is not quite enough snow to open, but it’s getting close.
