Let Cooler Heads Prevail: What To Do About Unattended Animals In Cars

From the Staff of Philip J. Dabney, P.C.

New Mexicans, better than anybody else, know how dangerous heat can be. Because of this, we bring extra water on hikes, we are grateful for any precipitation, and we carefully plan our activities on hot days. However, we still hear tragic tales of pets left unattended to suffer heat stroke in hot cars while their owners are out shopping. Despite knowing how dangerous heat can be, many New Mexicans often do not realize just how hot a car can get in such a short span of time. On an 80° Fahrenheit day, the cabin of a car can easily reach 120° Fahrenheit within 10 minutes. Read More

  • It sends the message that it is acceptable for adult teachers and staff—including adult men—to judge their clothing choices and, by extension, their bodies. We

Letter To The Editor: Another View

By ANNA DILLANE
Los Alamos

Too many people regard “coming out” as a one-time event. It just simply isn’t.

My junior year of high school I started dating a girl. We held hands in the hall but never kissed, and other students started asking my best friend questions.

Then, I didn’t care what the people in my tiny, religious town thought of me. I knew I was leaving after high school and would never see any of them again. And thankfully, I was right.

But I moved to another small, religious town to go to college.
