ALBUQUERQUE ― Patrick Moquino, 39, an enrolled member of the Mescalero Apache Nation who resides in Mescalero, pled guilty Wednesday in Federal Court in Las Cruces, to an assault charge.
Moquino was arrested July 11, 2017, on a criminal complaint charging him with assaulting a Mescalero Apache man by punching and kicking the victim in the head. Moquino subsequently was indicted Nov. 8, 2017, and charged with assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The lightning-caused San Antonio Fire on Valles Caldera National Preserve has grown to 426 acres and is located in the northwest area of the preserve between Valle San Antonio and northern boundary.
Resources consist of more than 100 fire personnel. The Albuquerque Zone Incident Management Type 3 Team is on scene and expected to take command at 8 a.m. Saturday.
