Farolito Sand Now Available To Los Alamos Residents

COUNTY News:

Each year, the Los Alamos County Traffic & Streets Division provides free farolito or luminaria sand as a courtesy to residents.

Sand is now available at these locations:

  • Overlook Park – in south Parking Lot
  • Urban Park – in 42nd St. Parking Area
  • Sullivan Field – west side of Parking Lot
  • Barranca Mesa – at the end of Barranca Rd @ Navajo
  • North Mesa – at the north end of Soccer Field Parking Lot

Residents are asked to limit the amount of sand taken to the amount needed for their holiday farolitos or luminarias. Read More

The Junior Class at Los Alamos High School is cleaning house! They are holding a recycle/reuse rummage sale of classroom furniture 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at the high school, 1300 Diamond Dr.
 
Student desks, chairs, file cabinets, tons of folding chairs, teacher desks and much more will be sold individually or in classroom sets, all at bargain basement prices and all proceeds will benefit the Junior Class.

Aspen Elementary School in Los Alamos held its annual Spelling Bee Thursday, Dec. 4 in the new library. 

Everyone who participated did very well, but only the top three students will go on to the District Spelling Bee Jan. 20 at Chamisa Elementary School.

Friends Of The Shelter At Fuller Lodge Open House Dec. 6

Los Alamos Friends of the Shelter (FOS) will have a table in the lobby 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Fuller Lodge Open House event.

Volunteers will be selling FOS 2015 Calendars, pottery, magnets, as well as small beeswax candles that fit perfectly into some of the pots. Volunteers also will have information on dogs and cats available for adoption.
