DOJ: Laguna Pueblo Man Charged With Assault With Intent To Commit Murder And Kidnapping In Indian Country

Department Of Justice News:

ALBUQUERQUE – Duane A. Day, 30, of New Laguna appeared in federal court in Albuquerque May 20 for arraignment on an indictment charging him with assault with intent to commit murder and kidnapping in Indian Country.

A grand jury indicted Day for the offenses May 12. According to the indictment, Day committed the crimes March 24 at a residence in New Laguna, Cibola County, New Mexico. Day allegedly strangled the victim twice, causing her to lose consciousness the second time.

LAHS Seniors Invited To Join Piñon’s End-of-Year Parade

LAPS News:

Members of the Class of 2020 who are former Piñon Panthers are invited to be a part of the Piñon Elementary End-of-the-Year Parade beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 27.

Seniors should wear their caps and gowns while riding in their cars in the parade. Participants are encouraged to ride in their cars.

The parade also will feature Piñon staff, the Piñon Panther, members of the Los Alamos police and fire departments, the Hillstompers and LAPS school buses.

The parade will follow a route near the school. The parade will start and end in the Piñon parking lot. Read More

Environment Department Suspends Food Service Permits For Two Restaurants Operating In Violation Of State Law

NMED News:

The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) suspended food permits from two restaurants that opened for dine-in service in violation of the Food Service and Sanitation Act. 

Jalisco Cafe in Silver City and Anaheim Jacks in Ruidoso were served notifications of the suspensions by NMED Friday.

Dine-in service is prohibited under the state’s public health order.

Los Alamos High School Private Graduation Ceremonies For Every Class Of 2020 Member Begin May 27

Los Alamos High School will host private graduation ceremonies for every member of the Class of 2020 next week over three days, starting Wednesday.

FBI: Albuquerque Conference Calls Victimized By Wave Of Child Sexual Abuse Material Displayed During Zoom Meetings

The FBI has received almost 250 reports of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) being displayed during Zoom meetings in the last few months, including an incident where the victims were participating in a conference call with a non-profit corporation in Albuquerque.

The incident occurred earlier this month. Approximately 20 minutes into the non-password protected call, an unknown person showed a video of CSAM.
