The most current Public Health order, issued June 1, 2020, states that “Public swimming pools may open but such facilities are limited to lane-swimming and lessons with up to two students only.”

The Family YMCA we will reopen June 8 in compliance with state health orders.
The organization is taking a week before to prepare the facility and fully train staff in new protocols, especially around cleaning and sanitation.

The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) is beginning inspections at some public aquatic venues this week.
The public health order issued Monday, June 1, by the New Mexico Department of Health allows public swimming pools to reopen, but only for lap swimming and lessons.
In addition, public swimming pools may only operate at up to 50 percent of their maximum capacity and with social distancing. At this time, those facilities will be inspected by NMED.

After the Governor announced May 15 that the ban on mass gatherings would remain in place for the foreseeable future (which the Governor again affirmed June 1, 2020), the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office made the decision to forgo election night reporting in the Boards and Commission Room, to help mitigate the spread of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Rather than congregating and waiting for results to be posted, the Clerk’s office will email candidates, local party chairs and media, a PDF document of the results, as they become available from each of the Vote Centers.

New Mexico Gas Company (NMGC) has informed the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities that it will purge a natural gas line, weather permitting, today on East Road across from Camino Entrada near the water tank.
Work was to begin at noon and continue until 1 p.m. today.
NMGC is purging the line on East Road as a routine maintenance check of its border station. “Purging” is the act of releasing natural gas from an existing section of pipeline and will be done in accordance with federal regulatory requirements.
