FBI: Navajo Man Gets Nine Years In Prison For Murder

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE, — Simeon Atcitty, 38, of Shiprock was sentenced Sept. 10 in Federal Court to nine years in prison for second degree murder in Indian Country. Atcitty pleaded guilty April 8.

According to his plea agreement, June 19, 2020, Atcitty became angry with the victim, identified on court records as John Doe, and began striking John Doe in the head and chest until he was seriously injured.

Atcitty continued to strike the victim until he was no longer moving. Atcitty then wrapped John Doe’s body and left the home.

Work On San Ildefonso Road And Camino Durasnilla Friday

SUNRISE UTILITIES News:

Starting Friday, Sept. 24, Sunrise Utilities crews will start to work close to the intersection of San Ildefonso Road and Camino Durasnilla.

The crews will repair a conduit between San Ildefonso Road and Camino Durasnilla and run a new coax line there.

A single lane closure will take place on the south lane from Ildefonso Road. Crews will be working on this south lane. It is expected that work will occur 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and be completed that day.

The Los Alamos History Museum is hosting a fundraising yard sale and silent auction 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Oppenheimer House on Bathtub Row.

The community is invited to attend this event being held to assist in raising funds for much needed repairs to the historic Oppenheimer House and to open its doors to the public.

New Mexico COVID-19 Sept. 22 Update: 719 New Cases, Totaling 247,353 With 19 New Deaths And 216,688 Recovered

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced 719 new COVID-19 cases today in New Mexico.

Los Alamos County reports 1 new case today bringing the total to 646 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 19 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are: 

  • 212 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 51 new cases in Chaves County
  • 14 new cases in Cibola County
