ESPANOLA – A New Mexico State Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle around 6 p.m. Tuesday that was occupied by a male and a female for a traffic violation on Riverside Drive in Espanola.

The vehicle immediately began to flee from the officer and a pursuit ensued. Moments into the pursuit the male driver began firing gunshots at the State Police officer through the sunroof of the vehicle.

Jemez Springs — The lightning-caused San Antonio Fire on Valles Caldera National Preserve is now 75 percent contained and remains at 416 acres. There has been no significant growth, but interior hot spots are a concern. Crews will continue to mop up the hot spot within the mixed conifer and aspen.

FBI: Prisoner Transportation Services Officer Indicted For Sexually Assaulting Inmate And Possessing Firearm
